What if your small business receives a huge order today? Will you be able to fulfill it? Will you have enough inventory in stock to service the order?

Or do you not know? Do you have no idea just how much inventory you have on hand?

If you answered “yes” to those last two questions, you’re far from alone. Small business owners are constantly short on time. This means that they often struggle to keep a good record of their inventory. Many owners don’t even have a database for inventory.  They often have little idea just how many parts and materials they have in that storeroom of theirs.

Fortunately, small business owners can solve this problem by investing in MRP software. This software, formally known as material requirements planning software, can make keeping track of your business’ inventory a painless task.

It’s possible, of course, to track your inventory by hand. But this is a painful process, one that takes many hours and has a great potential for error. By turning this job over to a piece of software, business owners can save themselves the headaches, and wasted time, of trying to track their inventory levels by hand.

With MRP software, you can make sure that you always have a large enough supply of materials and products available for delivery to your customers. You can also save money and storage space by using MRP software to maintain the lowest possible levels of inventory at your business.

MRP software can even help you better plan delivery schedules, purchasing decisions and manufacturing schedules. In short, MRP software can help you better plan your business’ activities, and it can do it without requiring much effort from you at all.

MRP software isn’t free, of course. It’s not even cheap. But it’s still a wise investment for the owners of small businesses. You don’t need to waste your time wondering if you have enough inventories on hand to fill that big order. You just want to fill that order and enjoy the revenues that come with it.

An efficient way to receive and send documents is using a fax machine. It is the most preferred method of sending signed documents. When sending a fax, you should ensure that the machine has already been plugged into a power source and has also been connected to the jack of the telephone line that you will be using. After checking that, turn the machine on. You should be able to know the fax number that you want to send information to. After gathering all the documents that you want faxed and arranging them in the right order that you need them to go as, fill out a cover sheet putting the recipient’s name, fax number/telephone number with your name and the telephone number. Also on the sheet, put a short message similar to a subject line of the e-mail.

Thereafter, the documents should lay face up on the feeder tray in the fax machine. The cover sheet should be on top. The next thing to do is dialing the recipients fax number not forgetting any dialing instructions that apply to international calls. Thereafter press the send or fax button. This will depend on the model of your fax machine but it is usually a standard button. Each of the documents is scanned by the machine and stored into its memory. Meanwhile, you will hear several tones being emitted by the machine. They are meant to establish a link whereby both machines can communicate. The fax should be sent after a few minutes. If your machine happens to have a small screen, you should get an indication that it has been sent. Otherwise, you can get a small confirmation report from it.

When receiving a fax, the first instructions mentioned above should be addressed. You should ensure that you have enough toner and paper to receive the fax. The phone should ring on your end but do not pick up, instead wait for a handshake tone which normally indicates that both machines have connected. The machine should automatically begin to print out the message. The cover sheet will help you to ensure that you have gotten all the information that was sent. You can call to confirm that you have received the documents.

If you are using faxes for large amounts of promotional material, you may find that a fax broadcast service using dedicated software is a better option. These systems can send the same fax to hundreds of recipients at the same time, often using VOIP technology to save on costs significantly.

Computer repair and maintenance is made all the more difficult when a fatal blue screen error occurs in Windows. This article highlights an approach to repairing Windows when registry faults interfere with the system start-up, finishing up with a Reimage review to show how online repair services can help.

My home office desktop PC recently crashed during start-up showing the blue screen code 0×80072F76. The code refers to the registry file being corrupted (most likely due to software removals I had made to the PC).

The logical steps for resolution are as follows:

  • Use another Windows user account. If the registry hive is only affected for one user then trying going is as administrator and salvaging your data.
  • Boot in Windows safe mode. Once Windows is running you can roll back the faulty registry file (assuming you keep back up copies).
  • Start Windows from the boot-disks and scan for faults. The system/hardware scans in this mode may pick up faults (e.g. disk errors). This is a long-shot but at the very least it discounts these possible causes.
  • Automate the repairs using PC maintenance software (such as Reimage).

In my scenario, I ultimately used the online repair service Reimage. After downloading their boot application I was able to boot the computer, gain internet access and start the Reimage repair and scan process (this runs from within Internet Explorer).

The 25 minute scan checked the registry file, device drivers, application files, etcetera for errors and omissions. The resulting report highlighted over 50 registry key faults, many relating to the applications I had recently removed, which Reimage was able to proceed to fix. Registry keys are compared to their online knowledge base and set appropriately while application and OS files are upgraded/replaced using their repository of over 20 million files.

In this day and age where many people work from home it has become necessary to be able to do your own computer repair and maintenance work. It is reassuring to know that even the dreaded blue screen of death can be repaired, even if it does sometimes mean resorting to online PC repair software services.

From a technological standpoint, things are changing in our world today on a practically minute-by-minute basis, whether it’s consumer electronics like mini digital cameras, video game software, or internet developments.  Computer technology in particular is one area that involves constant innovation. If you are seeking a job as an IT professional, it is very important to stay up to date on changes in the industry, knowledge that is necessary for you to obtain that position you are looking for. If you currently work as an IT professional, even if your company is not changing its computer infrastructure, it is still necessary to stay current.

The reason is for the security of your company’s computer network. Hackers all over the world are striving to make the next and greatest virus or trojan. Competitors could be coming up with new versions of spyware. If you are not current on what is happening in the computer industry, you might find yourself in a situation of not being able to eliminate spyware and adware that suddenly turns up on your machine.

With many corporate job positions requiring some type of computer knowledge, it is helpful to be aware of spyware, and what it can do to your system. Know what to look for. Know what to do to protect your computer. In addition, by doing that you are protecting your employer. Whether you are a new job seeker, or someone already employed in your company’s computer department, your employer will want employees who have an up to date knowledge of what is happening so staff is available to quickly and adequately disable security threats.

In spirit of today’s economic climate, or perhaps because of it, now is the best time to take some computer training courses and improve your knowledge of the recent changes in the industry. Up to date computer skills are always a bonus to both the employer and the employee in the quick changing world of technology.

What Are Ebooks?

Wednesday
Apr 21,2010

Electronic books or ebooks in short are digital formats of books. While some may say that the ebook revolution might pose a threat to physical books, ebooks actually offer an alternate way of reading. They are suited for book lovers who are also savvy in technology and view online reading as adding another dimension to reading.

Ebooks are uploaded on online book websites that users can order from their websites. After payment, the ebook is delivered electronically, bypassing the shipping and handling process. This thereby eliminates the need for users to foot the relevant costs associated with shipping and handling.

To explore why ebooks have risen in popularity, we look into the different features they have that traditional books do not offer.

Firstly, using ebooks software, you can search through the text for a specific word or phrase. This will serve as a good bookmarking tool or if readers are looking into recapping certain scenes in the story.

Many manufacturers of mobile devices or smartphones are entering the rat race of providing information on the go. Many of these devices now provide an application readers can install to read ebooks. This gives readers timely information and the benefit of convenience when reading.

Thirdly, you can shrink or enlarge the text size of the articles. For traditional books, large text sizes in the past would mean large, bulky books. However, small font sizes also make reading difficult especially for the older folks. Hence, this function of adjusting text size makes reading easier for readers.

Additionally, readers enjoy the benefit of instantaneous delivery of their ebook. This is especially helpful for readers who cannot afford the time to go to bookstores and libraries. In addition, this solves the issue of eager fans who cannot wait to get hold of the latest books from their favorite authors. The hassle of queuing for the book is eliminated and ensures readers have a seamless transition from one sequel to another.

I am looking for alternatives to Survey Monkey survey software right now. I am going to need to conduct an online web survey in the near future, and I need something that will allow me to install the software on my own web server and to keep all the data in-house. This is for security reasons that have been dictated by the organization I am running the survey for, so using a web based survey program that is not self-hosted is simply not an option.

That not only rules out Survey Monkey, but also many of the alternatives such as Survey Gizmo. Additionally, it will be important that the software be easy to use, and so that rules out many of the more professionally-oriented survey packages such as Qualtrics. What we need is a survey system that can be used by anyone, that offers a nice balance of usability and power, and that will allow us to generate nice reports on the fly so that the executives will be able to see survey results in a way that is easy to access, secure, and informative.

We have done a significant amount of web searching, and have managed to dig up some good survey monkey alternatives, with comparable features, competitive pricing, the ability to host your own web survey software. There are no shortage of survey software reviews on the internet, but I wanted to turn it over to the readers of this site to suggest web based survey software that you have used in similar enterprise applications and had success with. What we really want to know are not just the strengths of each of these survey solutions, which are all listed prominently on the vendor’s web sites, but rather the shortcomings of each one. Of the survey software packages you have employed, what have been your least favorite things about them?

Microsoft Antivirus Software, officially known as Microsoft Security Essentials, is a lightweight anti-virus available free from Microsoft. MS Antivirus concentrates on protection against spyware, malware, bots, worms, adware and other viruses though it does not provide any firewall. It is a trusted name and will not nag you with pop-ups requesting or pushing you to buy any add-on.

With increasing Internet exposure the threats of virus infection becomes manifolds. User’s inability to discern between a trap and genuine request makes the situation even worse. Once your system is infected, you are at mercy of malicious software, which might not only consume your system resources, but also transfer personal info while posing threat to your computer system itself.

According to a study, over 1.5 million users have recently registered for the Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus. Installing it requires validation, thus you should be running a legal copy of Microsoft operating system, like XP, Vista, etc. MS Antivirus is quite user-friendly which can be downloaded and installed in minutes. It will not interfere other activities while running in the background or scanning files, unlike other antiviruses which consume too much of system resources and slow the system down. MS Antivirus uses dynamic signature service of Microsoft to identify latest threats.

The antivirus is getting positive reviews all round and more and more users are opting for it. The antivirus is famous for its lightweight because it consumes very few system resources and produces a very efficient output in terms of virus detection and keeping your computer in safe zone. Sources claim that you will not even notice it running in the background while you do routine tasks.

The antivirus detects malwares and if it stumbles upon something unfamiliar or unknown, then reports it to Microsoft servers for latest updates. It is noteworthy that you should download MS Antivirus from trusted sources like Microsoft website. For more information on other anti virus software, visit http://www.chrissoftware.com.
